Health & Wellbeing

Introduction 

Duleek Bellewstown GFC has been running Health and Well Being initiatives since 2017, We were officially recognised as a Healthy Club by the GAA in July 2021. We received Silver status in 2023 and were awarded the Gold status award in 2025.  We have installed and maintain  defibrillators at our pitches in Bellewstown and Duleek.  Some examples of the initiatives we have hosted over this time are as follows:

  • Healthy Heart Screening Programme
  • Blood Pressure & Glucose monitoring
  • Mental Health awareness workshops hosted by Jigsaw Meath
  • Movember Ahead Of The Game
  • SafeTALK - suicide awareness
  • One Good Coach workshop with Jigsaw
  • Childline Breakfast
  • Water Safety with the RNLI

We also have a number of continuous, reoccurring initiatives such as:

  • Gaelic for Mothers & Others
  • Gaelic for Dads & Lads
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Walking Initiatives


  • Gaelic for Mothers & Others
Duleek Bellewstown GFC Mothers & Others are a long established group within the club.The group range in age from 25 to 58 and welcome ladies with no footballing ability to all levels of ability. The emphasis is on Health and Well Being and social activities, as well as learning a new activity in a fun and encouraging environment. In addition to Gaelic football the ladies  have undertaken Camino walks, Stairway to Heaven, Hell and Back, Race Days, Beach Yoga and Breathwork & Meditation to name a few.I f you are new to the village or just want to try something new come along and give it a go.   • Gaelic for Dads & Lads
The Dads & Lads Gaelic team at Duleek Bellewstown GFC is heading proudly into its third year, and the spirit has never been stronger. Built on fun, camaraderie, and getting out for a run-around, the team welcomes men of all ages and fitness levels — absolutely no prior GAA experience needed. With 30 players currently involved and a brilliant mix of beginners and returning players, the squad is always open to new faces. If you’re new to the village, it’s a fantastic way to meet people, get involved, and feel part of the community. Come give it a go, have a laugh, and enjoy the game in a relaxed, supportive environment.

  • All Stars sessions (for children with additional needs)
This is an inclusive session for children with additional needs. It's a space where children can take part in games and activities in a safe, controlled environment. Parents and Guardians can relax, enjoy a cuppa and a chat, while the children have fun and play games with our experienced coaches. For more information contact Gilllian on 087-7548403


  • Afternoon Tea 
Our Afternoon Tea sessions have been running for the last 3 years and are now firmly part of our Gaelic Club calendar. We set up our best china tea-sets and finest home baking, to bring people together for an afternoon of tea, chat and connections. Our next Afternoon Tea will be in April 2026.   • Walking Initiatives
Over the past few years we have taken part in many walking initiatives such as : Ireland Lights Up, Drogheda Camino and the Irish Life Steps Challenge.  Keep in touch for updates on the next one.
